Child and Adolescent Psychological Assessment
At Squiggle Psychology, we understand that the psychological assessments process can be confusing and expensive for parents and caregivers. We aim to make this process as smooth and transparent as possible, so you are not left feeling overwhelmed or disappointed. Below is a brief outline of our assessment process. However, your child's individual assessment may vary based on their needs.

Step 1 - Book and Attend Your Child's First Appointment
During this session, you and your child will discuss the indications and rationales for psychological assessment with our Psychologist. Following this session, you will be provided with a personalised quote and an outline of the assessment process. Once you have paid any outstanding fees, your child's appointment times will be confirmed. Our fees are outlined below, and are inclusive of the cost of this initial appointment. If we require more information, additional intake sessions may be required.

Step 2 - Attend Assessment Appointment/s
Your child may required to attend multiple assessment appointments including semi structured clinical interviews. Some of these assessments will require your child to attend the clinic in person, while others may be conducted via telehealth. There may be some that your child can complete online in their own time at home.

Please note, we schedule the average assessment time for someone. to complete the assessment. However, some assessments may need to be rescheduled to continue at another time. This may result in a pro-rata cost adjustment.

Step 3 - Receive Draft Report
2 days prior to your child's feedback session (see below), you will be emailed a draft report. Please review this, and collate any questions or additional information you wish to discuss with your child's Psychologist during the next session.

Step 4 - Attend Feedback Session
During this session, you, your child and your child's Psychologist will discuss the results, relevant interventions and discuss future needs. This will also include time for you to ask any questions and request amendments to your report. Following this session, you will be sent the final version of your report.

Autism
From $2022
Our comprehensive autism assessment for children and adolescents includes a semi-structured clinical interview with a parent or caregiver, to understand their developmental history and current experiences. We also complete a standardised observational assessment to explore social communication and interaction in a consistent way. Finally, we assess adaptive functioning to identify day-to-day strengths and support needs across areas, such as communication, self-care, and independent living.
ADHD
From
$1420 - $1890
Our comprehensive ADHD Assessment for children and adolescents includes a structured clinical interview to understand attention, impulsivity, and executive functioning across childhood, and how these patterns affect study, relationships, and daily life. We use standardised questionnaires to measure ADHD symptoms and functional impact, as well as tasks that assess attention and impulse control. If age appropriate, standardised measures of higher-order executive skills such as planning, organisation, cognitive flexibility, inhibition, and problem-solving are also assessed. Finally, we assess adaptive functioning to clarify day-to-day strengths and support needs across areas like time management, independent living, and practical life skills.
If indicated, a cognitive assessment may also be completed to better understand your pattern of cognitive strengths and weaknesses, and how these relate to attention, learning, and everyday functioning.
Specific Learning
Disorders
From $1530
Our specific learning disorder assessment for children and adolescents is designed to clarify whether difficulties in reading (dyslexia), written expression (dysgraphia), and/or mathematics (dyscalculia) reflect a specific learning disorder, and to identify your child's learning strengths and support needs.
We begin with a detailed background interview covering developmental, school and academic history, and the day-to-day impact of learning difficulties. We then complete a standardised assessment of cognitive abilities and academic achievement to map your child's profile of strengths and weaknesses, and understand how their current achievement compares with what would be expected based on their overall cognitive ability. Finally, we integrate results and provide clear, practical recommendations where required (e.g., school adjustments, strategies, and documentation).
