Frequently Asked Questions
I don't have a referral, can I still see a Psychologist?
Yes, you can! There would be out-of-pocket fees payable on the day of your appointments, and there is no medicare rebate without a referral. If you have private health insurance with extras cover, you may be able to claim a portion of the cost of your appointment with your health insurance (please contact your health insurance company for eligibility).
Are you accepting new patients?
Yes. We are accepting patients - adults, teenagers and children.
Do you see children?
Yes, John can see kids as young as 5 years of age.
What is your wait time?
We currently have immediate availability for appointments, with no wait time or waitlist.
Where are you located?
We are now based in Launceston, specifically in Trevallyn, within the Awaken Wellness Clinic at Shop 2, at 22 Gorge Road.
Free parking is available (out front and on the roof), and our room is wheelchair accessible. Public transport is also available nearby.
Do you do outreach?
Unfortunately we do not have the capacity to visit clients' homes. We can however, offer virtual appointments via phone or video.
Can I speak to John before my appointment?
For new patients, if you would like to have a quick 5-minute conversation with John to check suitability, please email us to arrange a time. Please note that we would be unable to provide therapy during this time.
How can I contact you?
You are welcome to email, call or text us with any questions or to book in. We are also available on Facebook Messenger, although our response time on that platform may be delayed. We understand that not everyone is comfortable with phone calls, and not everyone is comfortable typing - so we can work with suits you best!
What are your fees?
We are very transparent with our fees, and they are listed on our Therapy Page and our Assessment Pages. We charge well below the APS-recommended hourly rate and offer bulk billing (T&Cs apply).
